Description: Богатый селянин Солопий Черевык едет на знаменитую Сорочинскую ярмарку продавать пшеницу. Вместе с ним отправилась и вся его семья: сварливая жена Хывря и три дочки: Параска, Горпына и Мотря. Молодой парубок Грыцько, встретив на ярмарке Параску, влюбляется в нее. Но мачеха Хывря против их свадьбы. Грыцько знакомится на ярмарке с цыганкой – ворожкой, которая помогает ему уговорить родителей Параски выдать за него дочь. Параллельно с этим разворачиваются комические события, связанные с таинственной историей про червоную свитку. Весь рассказ кума Цыбули о червоной свитке экранизирован и насыщен множеством эксцентричных сцен. B финале истории главные герои обретают счастье и все завершается веселой свадьбой.
